Architect Erdal Tusavul, who has won the most prestigious awards with many international projects, especially in the tourism industry, talked about Serapool products that he has never stopped using in his projects. "Serapool is the most serious company in the pool tile business." ou have carried out many projects in Turkey and abroad. Many of your projects have also been awarded. Could you briefly tell us about your professional background and the projects you have realized? In 1962, I graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Architecture. I continued my studies in my own private o ice until I went abroad. After realizing approximately 200 apartment projects in Türkiye, I went abroad in 1978 with an o er from Italy. After working in Italy for a certain period of time, I took part in school projects in Libya. I stayed in Cairo for 1.5 years to design the administrative parts of a power plant in Egypt. I returned to Türkiye from abroad in 1986. At that time, tourism activities had started intensively in Türkiye. This situation was a great chance for me. I started working on the interior architecture of Club Med Palmiye Hotel. Then I undertook the interior design works of Yapı Merkezi's Novotel project. At that time, there were already at most 10 architects working on hotel projects. I joined them, and the amount of work was also very high at that time. In this way, we gained a lot of expertise and experience on hotel works. We are currently doing our 60th hotel project in Lebanon. There are also brand hotels among them. Urfa Hilton, Mardin Hilton, Beylikdüzü Hilton and most importantly Istanbul Bomonti Hilton are among our hotel projects. We have a Courtyard by Marriott Hotel project in Halkalı. We realized the Radisson Hotel in Sochi, Moldova and we have Rixos Hotels abroad. In Turkey, Bodrum Rixos Hotel is among our projects. We believe we have done good things so far. Six of our projects have received awards. The most important one is the German Design Council award we received for the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center project. We also received four awards from the European Property Awards for the Portall Imga Project. When working with hotels like this, you have to deal with water a lot. Because they are all recreational hotels. And that means building a pool. The amount of water in the pool we built at Ela Qulity Resort Hotel was 12 thousand square meters. That is quite a big number. Therefore, we are in great contact with ceramic companies. But among them, I firmly believe that Serapool is the most serious company in the pool tile business. Therefore, in every hotel project I am involved in, I always ask the company owners for an o er from Serapool. i There's no hotel project I can't get Serapool to bid on. In a swimming pool, certain standards of size and hygiene must be maintained very well. Hygiene is very relevant to the pool coating material used.
