Tülay Tosun is a designer, landscape architect and master architect who has made a name for herself around the world with her uniquely designed projects. Her portfolio is admired especially for her projects in tourism sector investments. Each of her works is crowned with awards. We talked to Tülay Tosun about her projects and Serapool. We know that, as Tülay Tosun and her team, you have carried out many projects in Türkiye and abroad. First of all, could you briefly tell us about your professional background and the projects you have realized? I started my professional journey by establishing my own business after graduating from Ege University Landscape Architecture Department in 1986. In the years following my graduation, we did not have many arguments and documents about landscape architecture, and we did not come across colleagues with experience in Antalya from whom we could get information. We did not have leaders and elders related to the profession to look up to. Those days were really di icult. First of all, I made a lot of e ort to explain this profession. I even remember; I had a typewriter at that time, there was no computer and so on. In this file, I wrote the answers to questions such as "What is landscape?" "Who is a landscape architect?" "Who am I?" "What do I do?" on four or five pages of file paper with a typewriter and attached it to the wire file. I created an introduction. I would leave that file wherever I went. The people I interviewed would first try to understand the Landscape Architecture profession. They would usually say that they had never heard of this profession and ask what exactly we do and what we design. The word for "landscape" is "scenery". It is a French word. Landscape is everything in the field of view. Landscape architecture, on the other hand, is an architectural discipline that designs functional, aesthetic and applicable structural and vegetative designs and landscapes that target human and living happiness by addressing natural resources. Idealism and love of profession caused me to play an active role in the establishment of our Professional Chamber in the following years. First, I took part in the establishment and presidency of the Landscape Architecture Association Antalya Branch. As the Founding President and the first elected president of TMMOB, PMO Antalya Regional Branch, I took on duties with honor in this process. In every project, I tried to add as many new things to myself and my knowledge as possible. My goal; As a designer, my goal is to introduce my team, my o ice and my works to the world from Antalya and to become a world brand. For this purpose, we sign four or five projects every year. We make great e orts to make each project a hundred percent success and we succeed in most of them. What would you like to say about the pool sector in Türkiye and its relationship with tourism? Antalya being the tourism center of Türkiye is a great chance for me. I have gained a lot of experience in tourism facilities. Tourism has taught me a lot and I have contributed a lot to the tourism sector. We have our signature on 8 works in the Kundu region. Although they are side by side, each of them has become the most beautiful in itself. I believe that we have strengthened our presence with our works that have di erent concepts, uses and functionalities and that we are constantly improving.
