94 "Serapool is a brand in which we found the features we were looking for." Oleander Hotel, located in Side, Antalya, has renewed its swimming pools with a major renovation. Stating that they preferred Serapool Olcay Mix because it provides a natural integrity with its color and texture during the renovation process, Architect Ayşin Özkara said, "We had classic blue mosaics in our pool before. It was not a product that met our needs in terms of maintenance, quality and design. Therefore, we preferred Serapool porcelain tiles during the renovation process and it met our expectations to the fullest." We would like to start our interview by getting to know you better. Could you briefly tell us about yourself and your professional career? I was born in Germany. I completed my primary, secondary and high school life in Antalya. I took my first step into architecture, a profession I always wanted, by winning the Yıldız Technical University Department of Architecture in Istanbul. Afterwards, I completed my master's degree at the "Politecnico di Milano" university in Milan. I returned to Antalya and started working at IDEA Architecture in 2006. After the experience I gained here, we established IDEAlist Architecture in 2013 with my colleagues Soner Bayrakçı and Murat Üçeş. We mostly serve in the field of interior architecture. How would you define architecture in Türkiye? To what extent do our geographical and cultural richness influence an architect's inspiration for his/her projects? It is an undeniable fact that Türkiye is very rich both geographically and culturally. This richness of course a ects the perception of design a lot. But besides that, everything you read, research, watch, travel and see are actually things that increase your design perception and inspiration. How would you define a design-perfect swimming pool? Considering the fact that we live in a tourism region, swimming pools occupy a very important place in many of our projects such as public housing and hotels. In terms of design, it is necessary to meet the needs of everyone who can use that pool. Having a separate section for children, maybe a stepped design in some places so that people want to sit in the pool when needed, having massage places in some sections, being open or closed according to need, adjusting the temperature and coldness degrees, having the pool in a form that allows people to move comfortably while swimming.
